Questions to Ask at Your Facelift Consultation

Facelift Questions

Any successful surgery starts with a consultation. In order for you to get the most out of your consultation, there are a number of questions that you will want to ask.

Important Questions To Ask During Your Facelift Consultation

Are You a Board-Certified Surgeon?

You will want to select a surgeon who is board-certified. Any physician in the United States can perform cosmetic surgery.  One of the best things that you can do to ensure that you have a safe surgery and the best results is to choose a surgeon who is board-certified. Board-certification is not something that is easy to obtain.  Board-certification indicates that a surgeon has received adequate education and training in their field, has demonstrated experience through an appropriate volume of case work that has been peer-reviewed, has demonstrated competence in their field through rigorous testing, and adheres to strict standards of practice and patient care.

Dr. Boggess is double board-certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology.

What Types of Anesthesia are Available?

The purpose of anesthesia is to make the patient comfortable and numb the pain during a procedure. The majority of our facial rejuvenation procedures are performed using light sedation and local anesthesia.  This eliminates the risk and cost of general anesthesia.  We also offer general anesthesia as an option for our patients, if preferred.

How Long Will it Take to Recover from a Facelift?

Because the Reflection Lift is a conservative approach compared to traditional facelift surgery, there is reduced risk for complications and faster recovery. Most patients can get back out in public within 1-2 weeks without visible signs of surgery. It is typically recommended that patients allow at least 3-4 weeks for recovery prior to any major event such as a wedding, reunion, or public speaking engagement or performance.

Recovery time can vary from patient to patient. However, there are some things that you can do after your facelift to make the recovery process go by faster and smoother. You should apply a cold compress to your face for the first few days after your surgery. Apply the cold compress for up to 20 minutes at a time.

You should also avoid exposing yourself to direct sunlight. If you have to go outside, then you should use a sunscreen with at least SPF of 30. Additionally, you should keep your head elevated. This will help reduce swelling.

How Much Will the Surgery Cost?

There are several things that will be included in the cost of your surgery. This includes operating room expenses, anesthesia fee, surgeon’s fee and surgical materials. Every surgery is different, so the price is largely contingent upon one’s goals and needs.  By performing our procedures in-office using light sedation and local anesthesia, we are able to reduce costs compared to procedures performed in a hospital using general anesthesia. We can help breakdown the costs for you to see the savings.
